Application Process
Sacred Heart Academy uses an online Application for Admission as well as a downloadable application form. The applicant and her parent or guardian must complete the Application for Admission available and payable online under Admissions, Apply Online. If you prefer, you may submit a paper copy of the Application for Admission located on the right sidebar of this page under All Admissions Forms and return it to Sacred Heart Academy with the $60 fee. The application includes a Request for Release of Records form that must be signed by the parent or guardian of the applicant and forwarded to the office of the applicant’s current school. Final consideration cannot be given until all records are received. Applicants must also phone the Admissions Office to schedule an interview and private tour, if desired.
Testing
All students applying for grades 9 and 10 must take an Entrance Exam. An Entrance Exam will be held on a Saturday at the beginning of November. For 2013, the exam will take place on Saturday, November 2. The exam begins at 8:00 a.m. and ends at noon. We ask students to bring two sharpened #2 pencils. If there is an emergency or if the student is ill, kindly phone the school office at 203-288-2309 between 9 and 10 a.m. on the morning of the exam.
Interviews
Personal interviews are available, but not required as part of the admissions process. You may schedule an interview by phoning the Admissions Office at 203-288-2309, x307. One or both parents or guardians must accompany the candidate since both the candidate and the parents/guardians will be interviewed.
Recommendations and Records
Written recommendations are not required but are extremely helpful in clarifying a student’s application and/or in explaining special circumstances. Sacred Heart Academy must receive school records and recommendations as soon as first quarter grades are available and no later that December 1. Final consideration cannot be given until all records are received.
Notification
Acceptance to Sacred Heart Academy is based on all parts of your completed application along with the results of the entrance exam and 6th, 7th, and 8th grade records. All applicants are notified of the admissions committee's decision by mail in January.
